MAT Addiction Treatment For Residents of Arlington, Texas
Making the decision to enter a detox program for drugs or alcohol can be stressful. Many people have fears or worries about how it will go. They wonder if it will be painful or uncomfortable, or even dangerous. Some people have tried detoxing in the past and ended up relapsing immediately because withdrawal symptoms were too much to handle, and they worry that will happen again.
At Resurgence, we can help you detox from any substance in a safe and comfortable way, using a treatment called Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT). After intake, the first step when entering a residential rehab program is detoxing from drugs and alcohol. This can sometimes take more than just stopping the drug. Without help, sometimes withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and even life-threatening. Even if they are not that bad, they can still become very uncomfortable and cause mental distress.
Withdrawal symptoms depend on the drug, but can include:
- Nausea
- Aches
- Anxiety or depression
- Fatigue or agitation
- Intense drug cravings
- Hallucinations
- Insomnia
- Excessive sweating
- Confusion
- Tremors
- Flu-like symptoms
Detoxing should be supervised by medical professionals to make sure the patient remains safe and does not have dangerous withdrawal symptoms.
At Resurgence, we have a medically assisted treatment program (MAT) that is a safer and easier way to get through detox. It combines clinical care and prescription medications with behavioral health and dual diagnosis for a whole-patient-centered treatment, setting the foundation for a sustained recovery.

What Is MAT?
When detoxing from drugs or alcohol, it is important to have professional oversight to avoid potentially dangerous and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) is a treatment program to help patients detox from drugs and alcohol safely. FDA-approved medications are given, at prescription doses to mitigate withdrawal symptoms, help patients sleep, and treat co-occurring mental issues. Because they are controlled and distributed by our highly trained nursing staff, these medications will help with symptoms without creating any new addictions.
Because MAT is focused on the whole patient, rather than just the addiction, it has been proven to improve a patient’s survival rated, and their ability to live a self-directed life without dependency on substances.
What To Expect During MAT
The first thing to happen when you decide to enter a Resurgence detox and drug rehab program is our intake procedure. This includes an in-depth interview, showing you around the facility, and screening for physical and mental health issues, so we can formulate a customized treatment plan that will work best for you to treat your addiction.
You will then enter our residential detox program, where you stay in one of our comfortable home-like rooms. Detoxing generally takes between five and twenty days, depending on which drug you were taking, how long you were using the drug, family history, and other factors like physical health and genetics. Everybody’s detox is different.
When you do a detox program at Resurgence, our empathetic and highly-trained clinical staff can give you medications to help with withdrawal symptoms and counteract drug cravings. Medications like antidepressants or sleep aids may also be given, depending on your individual treatment plan. The medicine is always given at prescription doses by our nursing staff, and they will not get you high or cause a new addiction. They are only there to keep you comfortable and safe as you detox.
During MAT, we also provide therapy and counseling to tackle the behavioral and emotional components of detox, so you will be supported in every way. Dealing with the biological issues that come with withdrawal symptoms, along with mental health care, is a successful combination for reducing the risk of relapse.
After MAT is complete, you will continue therapy and counseling in one of our residential rehabilitation programs. Generally, these programs are 30, 60, or 90 days long, followed by an extended outpatient and alumni program. We recommend a minimum stay of 30 days as an inpatient and encourage all of our Resurgences to remain in aftercare for as long as they need. Everybody is different, with their own needs, goals, and plans, and at Resurgence, we aim to help you hit your recovery goals and stay sober.
