Couples Rehab for Austin TX Residents
When someone in the family struggles with diabetes or high blood pressure, their consumption of sugary sweets and salty potato chips does not directly impact your own health and well being. You may worry about the physical health of your parent, spouse, or child, but their ailment is entirely their own.
The same is not the case when it comes to another serious illness, one identified as alcoholism, drug addiction, or simply substance use disorder. When a friend or family member is addicted to alcohol or drugs and struggling with their dependency, you suffer right along with them – in fear, in anxiety, in victimization, and in countless other ways.
It has often been said that substance use disorder is a family illness, and that is definitely the case. If a parent, romantic partner, child, or grandchild is addicted to alcohol and drugs, you know only too well how much damage their substance abuse can have, and that is why quality couples rehab is so important.
While every member of the family suffers when someone in the family is addicted to alcohol or struggling with alcoholism, no one is more directly impacted than the spouse or romantic partner. Whether the person suffering from substance abuse is your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend, you know only too well just how impactful their drug or alcohol use is on your life.
That impact is just as great whether or not you share the same substance use disorder. The spouses and romantic partners of substance abusers often turn to alcohol and drugs themselves, sometimes as a showing of solidarity and other times as a source of coping, but over time the problem only gets worse and worse. Breaking this cycle is not an easy thing to do, but at Resurgence our couples rehab program is designed to break through and help both partners in the relationship go on to better and more successful lives.
For couples living in the Austin area, attending rehab as a couple could not only save lives, it could also salvage shattered relationships. Drug addiction, alcoholism, and other forms manifestations of substance use disorder can have a profound, and profoundly hurtful, impact on romantic relationships, but the skills you learn while you are with us can help you turn things around, so you can work things out as a team and support one another in your recovery.

Benefits of Couples Rehab
Drug addiction and alcoholism have the potential to shatter lives and end relationships, and couples struggle mightily to get clean and stay that way. Being able to lean on and learn from one another through the rehab experience can make all the difference in the world, and that is one of the most important benefits of the couples rehab model.
When you enter rehab together, you can address your individual substance use disorder problem, but you can also support your spouse or partner as they embark on this difficult but very important journey. Learning the skills you need to cope with addiction, support your recovery, and resist your triggers could be critical to your long-term success, not only while you are in couples rehab but long after you have returned back home to Austin.
The couples rehab model can have additional benefits, starting with the chance to make a fresh start. Many hurtful things are said in the heat of addiction and alcoholism, and letting go of those harmful memories is not an easy thing to do. By giving you the skills and resources to make a fresh start, you and your spouse can heal your relationship and move forward with newfound confidence.
If you are ready to get started on the road to recovery for yourself and your partner, we invite you to give the staff at Resurgence a call. At Resurgence we have built a couples rehab protocol from the ground up, one that relies on the latest in the field of addiction science and one that will give you both the power to heal, not only now but well into the future.
